PLEASE WAIT …
to be SEATED is a young Danish design company founded in 2014 by Thomas Ibsen. The idea was quite clear from the beginning, we wanted to build a great design brand, based on our passion for shapes, architecture, and legacy of the previous Danish masters.
When asked why the company name is PLEASE WAIT to be SEATED we answer that our name sums up who we are. Polite people with a keen interest in seating and interior, with a sense of humor and both feet firmly on the ground. At least so far.
You’ll be thinking of us the next time you find yourself waiting for a table in a restaurant and see the sign.
The founder and creative director Thomas Ibsen has previously worked as a photographer specializing in creating images for international interior magazines such as Wallpaper and Elle Décor and well established international design brands. This meant that the company had a magnificent network from day one among designers, stylists and architects.
In September 2016 Peter Mahler Sørensen joined the company as CEO and co-owner. Peter has great experience from many years in the branding, design, and furniture industry as CEO, board member, and advisor.
Our goal is that all designs we introduce have the potential of becoming design classics, which is a serious and tough goal to fulfill. By focusing on a long life span for our designs, we want to go against the buy and trash mentality. Before we launch a new design, we always ask ourselves: Will this design object with its function, shape and material, become a long lasting object we someday can pass on to our children? If in doubt we stop the design process.
PLEASE WAIT to BE SEATED also distributes great products from dedicated brands, artists, designers and manufacturers. One thing they all have in common is that they know their industry with regards to craftsmanship, skills, quality of materials, and sustainability in terms of durable design. We are proud that they trust us to represent them.
We are very thankful for all the international attention we recieve and the fact that our designs are now shipped to many like-minded people around the world. We sincerely hope you will keep an eye on us and that you will pop by our showroom next time you are in Copenhagen.
